Mother Nature Wins Again

So I was all geared up for some local dirt track racing this past weekend but that didn't happen.   Not only the tracks that I was planning on attending rained out (Fairmont and Arlington), but basically the entire state of Minnesota cancelled due to poor weather conditions.   I'm hopeful to see some racing this upcoming weekend as the forecast looks that we have a chance.
Cloudy

Fri May 11

High of 68 deg. with a 20% chance of rain
Mostly Sunny

Sat May 12

High of 69 deg. with a 10% chance of rain

Now back to the topic of Graphics, last week we completed the graphics for Bruce Anderson from Trimont who pilot's his own 305 Sprint Car as well as D.A. Motorsports 360 Sprint Car.  A couple graphic packages were also done for a few local IMCA Sport Compacts.    This week the focus is on a couple of boats that need to be completed before the fishing opener as well as the store front for Craig Gill's Farmers Insurance here in Hutchinson.

Tune into 1260am this Wednesday at 5:10pm for the start of this years "Racing Connection Show"  The Racing Connection Show is a racing program that I host from the local am station here in Hutchinson where we cover the results as well as upcoming events at the local race tracks of Arlingtion, Fairmont, Redwood Speedway, KRA speedway in Willmar, as well as Fiesta City Speedway in Montevideo.

Local Racing Starting TONIGHT

I will be taking a little break from the graphics tonight and tomorrow to enjoy some great local dirt track action.   Fairmont is a definite go tonight and I'm not missing it!  With almost a month of rain outs I think everyone is pretty excited about it.   Tomorrow night I will be taking in some great action at Arlington.   There opener last week had to be cancelled due to rain and I'm hopeful to go and enjoy some great Saturday racing action as well.

Want to wish all the drivers and team's that choose Derik's Racing Decals the very best of luck this weekend as well as the entire 2012 season.   In an effort to make this blog more interactive I strongly encourage all our customers to post there results in the comment section.

On a graphics note,  I'm getting pretty close to caught up with just a few more cars to letter up.  Below is a couple more pics of recent cars along with a classic looking sign

Its been absolutely far too long since my last blog post, but I can honestly say that we've been swamped with race cars as the season openers are among us.    Unofficially I've done right around 25 cars with 8 more left to do.   I'm very grateful for the opportunity for all those that choose Derik's Racing Decals.  I'm quite pleased with the accolades that some of them have received at a few of the local race car shows.

Luke Sathoff was the winner of the Stockcars in Fairmont
Clint Hatlestad was the overall winner at the Hutchinson show
Dan McCain was the runner-up in the Hutch show
Chris Graf was the peoples choice winner in Hutch as well
Sarah Voss was the IMCA Hobby winner at Arlington
Fuzzy Albrecht was the Outlaw Hobby winner at Arlington
Dan Grams was the Sprint Car winner at Arlington
Andy Daschner was the Modified winner at Arlington
Chaldin Wisch was the go-kart winner at Arlington

I plan to break down each and every one of the car's above in future blogs as all of them turned out very nice yet were all done in different ways...... really.......Yes indeed.  Sarah Voss was a complete wrap, Luke Sathoff was printed and contour cut, Dan McCain was all cut and layered, so I think it will be interesting to break down each of them individually on a weekly basis to explain what went into each of them.  I'm hoping this will help not only new customers but existing customers in understanding on each is done and what would be the best for their needs.

I better run,  before this weekend you can expect to see the Matt Schauer car, Zach Malchow, Rod Manthey, and some of the John Polifka car with graphics from Derik's Racing Decals.

I will leave you with a couple pics of recent work completed.   Go out and check out some of our local dirt track racing with Fairmont running on Friday night and Arlington on Saturday

Sneak peak at the 2012 Clint Hatlestad car

It's been a very busy week around the graphic shop with the Hutchinson Race car show this coming Saturday.    The Luke Sathoff graphics are completed and shipped out and Tony Norem's 360 Sprint car is done and ready to go.    Other's getting finished up before the show will be Josh Telecky's, Sarah Voss, Adam Revier, and Greg Jacobsen.

Below is a couple pics of Clint Hatlestad's Modified which is about 90% done and will be on display this weekend in the Hutchinson mall.  The graphics done on Hatlestad's 2012 car was a full wrap as can be seen on the picture's below.
Hatlestad Before

Hatlestad After
Along with Hatlestad at the race car show this weekend in the Hutchinson mall, we are expecting 20 local race cars in attendance.   This event is something that my wife and I, along with numerous friends and family, put on and we encourage everyone to bring the kids and stop by the Hutchinson Mall this Saturday, March 31st.    The show hours are from 10:00 - 5:00.

This event was started 6 years ago as a memorial for my son Levi.  Levi absolutely loved racing and this is one thing we do to remember Levi and the love and Joy he brought to our lives.  Bring the kids out, as there will again be games, coloring, balloons, and prizes for them.

March 23rd report

Here is a couple of vinyl graphic jobs finished this week including a commercial truck for Flatworks Construction as well as Tim Pessek's 2012 Modified.   Later this week we should have the wrap completed on Hatlestad's new Victory car as well as the printed and contour cut graphics for Luke Sathoff.   So stay tuned!!!!!

Want to say a big congrats to Andy Altenburg and Dustin Wannarka for running very strong in Beatrice over the weekend.   In saturday's A-main Andy finished 2nd to the 99 of Damon Murty and looked very strong in his first weekend out.  I talked with Andy and he was very happy with how the racing went.  To watch a video of Saturday's feature go to YouTube and search Spring Nationals Saturday 3/17.  The video is courtesy of Bullet200789.

Racing Season is Here! Well, for some of us.

Derik's Racing Decals is a proud supporter of Andy Altenburg and Altenburg Motorsports and we'd like to wish Andy and Squid good luck this weekend as they head to Beatrice, Nebraska for the Spring Nationals.  If things go well, they will run the weekend after in MO kicking off the USRA Iron Man Series.  Follow Andy and Squid throughout the year at www.altenburgmotorsports.com

Andy has been a long time customer as well as a friend.  He's been a big part of helping with the Memorial car show held here in Hutchinson as well as the race in Fairmont.  Below is a picture of his 2012 car he will be running this season.   After spending the last couple years racing a late model,  he and his brother (Dustin "Squid" Wannarka) have teamed up to compete in the IMCA and USRA stockcar divisions

Here is a picture of Andy's 2011 late model that was wrapped for the USA Nationals held at Ceder Lake Speedway in WI. It was done with the theme of "Never Forgotten" regarding the 10 year memorial of 9-11 with the hood including the twin towers as the "11"

My first blog post!

So here we go!  This is the first blog post done by Derik at Derik's Racing Decals.   Certainly I'm completely new to this, but what you can expect in following us here is some cool designs, neat idea's, and fun to be had.   I'm going to honest,  this was started as a class assignment but I fully believe that this will evolve into a regular platform used in showcasing the projects done by Derik's Racing Decals.

We encourage comments as we are always looking for feedback!  Not all the designs and work will be a favorite of everyone,  that's OK.   But good honest feedback keeps us working hard and always improving.  I must say though...good compliments and people liking the work can be the most rewarding part of our business.

So...  here's a couple pics of car's done in the past and stay tuned for images of new projects as we complete them.
